Miles for Martinis is a travel and cocktail guide dedicated to finding the places worth drinking around the world, from iconic hotel bars and hidden cocktail lounges to rooftop terraces, beach clubs and the occasional perfect espresso martini.
We believe where you have a drink can be just as memorable as what’s in the glass.
That means checking into legendary hotels, tracking down bars with incredible views, revisiting the classics and ordering our way through cocktail menus to answer a simple question: Is it worth the reservation?
Miles for Martinis started as a way to share the places we were already seeking out while traveling. Today, it is a growing guide to drinking well around the world, with recommendations built around the entire experience: the cocktail, the setting, the service and whether we would actually tell a friend to go.
Meet Matt
Miles for Martinis was created by Matt Sutherland, a longtime media and communications executive with an even more enduring enthusiasm for travel, hotels and a very cold martini.
After years spent traveling for work and for fun, Matt realized some of his favorite memories had one thing in common: a great drink in a place worth remembering.

Miles for Martinis grew out of the idea that these places deserve a guide of their own. Matt brings a background in television, storytelling and communications to Miles for Martinis, but the philosophy is intentionally simple: go somewhere interesting, order something good and tell you whether it’s worth going to.
No complicated tasting notes. No pretending every cocktail is life changing. Just great bars, great hotels, great views and an ongoing search for the next drink worth traveling for.
