Plush comfort, quieter energy
The Dorchester’s lobby makes a striking first impression, with restaurants and bars competing for attention. Vesper turns away from that bustle into a generously sized room filled with plush furniture. Comfort was immediate, and the service throughout our visit was kind. It gives you somewhere to settle rather than somewhere to perch.
That separation also creates the bar’s main weakness. The lobby held more movement and anticipation than the room itself. Once inside Vesper, we kept wanting some of that energy to follow us. The setting looked polished, but it never quite developed the sense of occasion that the hotel had already established.
The espresso martini gets the fundamentals right
The espresso martini was a strong technical showing. The coffee flavor came through clearly, the drink arrived properly chilled, and the build felt correct. It was the clearest reason to choose Vesper on our visit. Nothing about the serve needed to shout. Balance and temperature carried it.
Where Vesper fits
Vesper works when you want comfort, considerate service, and a reliable drink inside one of Mayfair’s grand hotels. Treat it as a polished stop, especially if an espresso martini is what you want. If the bar needs to provide the evening’s momentum, choose a room with more charge. At Vesper, The Dorchester is part of the draw, and some of its best energy may still be waiting outside the bar.
